Összefoglaló

Both local anesthetics and dapsone can oxidize hemoglobin to methemoglobin. Used together, they may increase the risk of clinically significant methemoglobinemia, causing cyanosis, dyspnea, and tissue hypoxia. Risk is higher in patients with G6PD deficiency or existing anemia.

Mit jelent ez a kölcsönhatás közérthetően

Chloroprocaine and Dapsone can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Chloroprocaine belongs to Central Nervous System; Dapsone belongs to Anti Bacterial.

Bizonyítékszint: Moderate

Miért jön létre

Additive oxidant stress on hemoglobin from the two drugs leads to formation of methemoglobin.

Teendő

Use the lowest effective dose of chloroprocaine and watch for cyanosis, low pulse oximetry readings, and dyspnea. Confirm with co-oximetry and treat with methylene blue if symptomatic, unless G6PD deficiency is present.
