Per cosa si usa
Come agisce
Dexbrompheniramine is the pharmacologically active dextrorotatory (S)-enantiomer of brompheniramine. It is a first-generation alkylamine (propylamine) antihistamine that competitively blocks histamine H1 receptors. This reduces histamine-mediated effects such as increased capillary permeability, vasodilation, itching, sneezing and rhinorrhoea.
Dose abituale nell'adulto (sintesi del foglio illustrativo)
Hay fever/upper respiratory allergy symptoms (adults and children 12 years and over): 1 tablet (2 mg) orally every 4 to 6 hours; not to exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours
Gravidanza e allattamento
- Gravidanza
- Unknown Older antihistamine, mostly in cold and allergy combinations; limited human data with no clear link to birth defects. Loratadine or cetirizine have more pregnancy data and are preferred. Avoid combinations with decongestants in early pregnancy.
- Allattamento
- Safe LactMed: small occasional doses are not expected to harm the infant. Larger or prolonged doses may sedate the infant or reduce milk supply, especially with pseudoephedrine. A bedtime dose after the last feed limits exposure.
Effetti indesiderati segnalati
- Drowsiness
- Excitability, especially in children
Chi deve prestare attenzione
- Ask a doctor before use if you have a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, glaucoma, or trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate
- Excitability may occur, especially in children
- May cause drowsiness; use caution when driving or operating machinery
