Per cosa si usa
Come agisce
Synthetic prostaglandin E analogue parent drug that is rapidly deesterified to misoprostol acid (active metabolite) and replaces protective prostaglandins consumed with therapies that inhibit prostaglandin synthesis; inhibits gastric acid secretion and protects gastric mucosa.
Dose abituale nell'adulto (sintesi del foglio illustrativo)
NSAID-Induced Ulcer (Prophylaxis): 200 mcg PO q6hr with food; may be decreased to 100 mcg q6hr if higher dose is not tolerated; last dose to be administered at bedtime
Gravidanza e allattamento
- Gravidanza
- Unsafe Contraindicated in pregnancy except licensed obstetric uses: it can cause miscarriage, uterine rupture and bleeding, and 1st-trimester exposure is linked to skull, facial, cranial nerve and limb defects. Women who could become pregnant need reliable contraception.
- Allattamento
- Safe Converted to an active acid that reaches milk only in very low amounts, and prostaglandins occur naturally in milk. LactMed: amounts are trivial, no special precautions; postpartum use is fine. US label: use with caution.
Effetti indesiderati segnalati
