Per cosa si usa
Come agisce
Antifibrinolytic; synthetic lysine amino acid derivative, which diminishes the dissolution of hemostatic fibrin by plasmin In the presence of tranexamic acid, the lysine receptor binding sites of plasmin for fibrin are occupied, preventing binding to fibrin monomers, thus preserving and stabilizing fibrin’s matrix structure
Dose abituale nell'adulto (sintesi del foglio illustrativo)
Menorrhagia: 1300 mg PO TID for up to 5 days during menstruation
Gravidanza e allattamento
- Gravidanza
- Safe Crosses the placenta. Use in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters and at delivery has not shown clear harm, and it is widely used for bleeding after birth (WHO). Rare fatal fetal abnormalities after 1st-trimester use, with confounders. No harm in animals. Use when needed for bleeding, not for heavy periods.
- Allattamento
- Safe Passes into milk in low amounts. US/UK labels: no final assessment; weigh benefits. LactMed: expert opinion considers that breastfeeding should be permitted when the mother needs tranexamic acid.
