Sintesi
Intrathecal metrizamide lowers the seizure threshold, and phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine also lower it. Giving them together raises the risk of convulsions after myelography.

Chlorpromazine and Metrizamide are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Stop the phenothiazine at least 48 hours before myelography where feasible, and do not restart it for at least 24 hours afterwards. Use a non-ionic contrast agent suited to intrathecal use, and avoid this combination.
