Resumo
Acetylcysteine may potentiate the vasodilatory effect of nitroglycerin. This can cause more pronounced headache, flushing and hypotension, particularly with intravenous acetylcysteine.
O que esta interação significa em palavras simples
Acetylcysteine and Nitroglycerin sublingual can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Por que acontece
Acetylcysteine is a thiol donor that may enhance nitric oxide-mediated vasodilation and counteract nitrate tolerance, producing an additive hemodynamic effect.
O que fazer
Monitor blood pressure and heart rate when the two are given together, especially during intravenous acetylcysteine infusion. Reduce the nitroglycerin dose if symptomatic hypotension or severe headache occurs.
