Amiodarone inhibits P-glycoprotein and raises dabigatran plasma concentrations, increasing anticoagulant effect and bleeding risk. The increase is moderate in patients with normal renal function but is more important in older patients or those with renal impairment.
O que esta interação significa em palavras simples
Amiodarone and Dabigatran etexilate can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Por que acontece
Inhibition of P-glycoprotein-mediated efflux of dabigatran etexilate in the gut, increasing absorption.
O que fazer
Monitor for bleeding and renal function, and consider a lower dabigatran dose per local labeling in patients with reduced renal function. Avoid the combination in severe renal impairment.
