What this interaction means in plain words

Amlodipine-hydrochlorothiazide-valsartan and Bendroflumethiazide can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Why it happens

Therapeutic duplication of thiazide diuretics produces additive natriuresis and potassium wasting.

What to do

Avoid using two thiazide diuretics together; stop one of them. If unavoidable, monitor electrolytes, renal function and blood pressure closely.
