What this interaction means in plain words
Butalbital and Chlorzoxazone can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Why it happens
Additive CNS depression, with butalbital enhancing GABA-A receptor activity and chlorzoxazone acting as a centrally acting muscle relaxant.
What to do
Start with the lowest effective doses and warn the patient about driving and operating machinery. Reassess the need for both drugs if excessive sedation occurs.
