Summary

Carbidopa is given with levodopa, and dopaminergic therapy can lower blood pressure and cause orthostatic hypotension. With indapamide the hypotensive effect may be increased, though carbidopa alone has little direct effect.

What this interaction means in plain words

Carbidopa and Indapamide have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.

Carbidopa belongs to Central Nervous System; Indapamide belongs to Cardiovascular.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive blood pressure lowering, via levodopa-derived dopamine effects together with diuretic volume depletion.

What to do

Check blood pressure including standing readings when starting or adjusting levodopa/carbidopa, and reduce the antihypertensive dose if symptomatic hypotension occurs.
