Summary

Ethotoin is a hydantoin anticonvulsant that can cause drowsiness and dizziness, which may be added to the sedation from cariprazine. Antipsychotics may also lower the seizure threshold, which can work against seizure control. Ethotoin is less potent as an enzyme inducer than phenytoin but could still reduce cariprazine exposure.

What this interaction means in plain words

Cariprazine and Ethotoin can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens
