For healthcare professionals — reference only. This page is a brief summary, not medical advice and not a substitute for official labeling or clinical judgement. Always verify before prescribing or dispensing.

Summary

Saquinavir strongly inhibits CYP3A4 and can markedly raise dasatinib levels, and both drugs prolong the QT interval. This markedly increases the risk of torsades de pointes and dasatinib toxicity.

What this interaction means in plain words

Dasatinib and Saquinavir are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

CYP3A4 inhibition increases dasatinib exposure, with additive QT prolongation.

What to do

Avoid the combination and choose an antiretroviral without strong CYP3A4 inhibition or QT effects.

What to ask your pharmacist
