Summary

Dengue vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine, and myelosuppressive chemotherapy may blunt the immune response and allow vaccine virus replication. Immunocompromised patients are at risk of disseminated vaccine infection.

What this interaction means in plain words

Dengue vaccine and Liposomal doxorubicin are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Chemotherapy-induced immunosuppression impairs vaccine response and permits uncontrolled replication of live vaccine virus.

What to do

Do not give the live dengue vaccine during chemotherapy; defer until immune recovery as advised by the oncology team.
