Summary
Dengue vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine, and obinutuzumab-induced B-cell depletion may weaken the immune response and permit vaccine strain replication. This leaves the patient potentially unprotected and at some risk of vaccine-related infection.
What this interaction means in plain words
Dengue vaccine and Obinutuzumab can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Why it happens
B-cell depletion by obinutuzumab suppresses humoral immunity, impairing vaccine response and control of live attenuated virus.
What to do
Avoid giving the dengue vaccine during obinutuzumab treatment and until B-cell recovery. If vaccination is needed, schedule it before therapy where possible.
What to ask your pharmacist
