Summary

Meclofenamate is partly glucuronidated, and eltrombopag inhibits UGT enzymes in vitro, so its exposure might increase. NSAIDs also impair platelet function and can cause GI bleeding, which is important in thrombocytopenia.

What this interaction means in plain words

Eltrombopag and Meclofenamate can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Possible UGT inhibition by eltrombopag, plus additive bleeding risk from NSAID antiplatelet effects.

What to do

Prefer a non-NSAID analgesic in patients with low platelet counts. If an NSAID is necessary, monitor for bleeding and platelet counts.
