Summary

Heparins can suppress aldosterone secretion and cause hyperkalemia. Combined with an ACE inhibitor, the risk of elevated potassium increases, especially in diabetes, renal impairment or prolonged use.

What this interaction means in plain words

Enoxaparin and Moexipril can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Enoxaparin belongs to Cardiovascular; Moexipril belongs to Cardiovascular.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Additive reduction in aldosterone effect: heparin inhibits adrenal aldosterone synthesis and ACE inhibition lowers angiotensin II.

What to do

Monitor serum potassium if combined for more than a few days, particularly in high-risk patients. Treat hyperkalemia or reconsider therapy if levels rise.
