What this interaction means in plain words
Eprosartan-hydrochlorothiazide and Valsartan can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Eprosartan-hydrochlorothiazide belongs to Cardiovascular; Valsartan belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Duplicate angiotensin II receptor blockade causes additive reduction of aldosterone effect and glomerular filtration pressure.
What to do
Avoid combining two ARBs and use a single agent at an optimized dose. If unavoidable, monitor potassium, creatinine and blood pressure closely.
