What this interaction means in plain words

Etrasimod and Fludarabine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Etrasimod belongs to Gastrointestinal Tract; Fludarabine belongs to Oncology.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive lymphocyte reduction: S1P receptor modulation with purine analog cytotoxicity.

What to do

Avoid combining them, and allow an adequate interval after stopping etrasimod before starting fludarabine. If unavoidable, monitor lymphocyte counts and for infection.
