Summary
Etrasimod is cleared by several CYP enzymes including CYP2C8, CYP2C9 and CYP3A4, and nilotinib inhibits some of these enzymes, which may increase etrasimod exposure. Both drugs also have immune-modulating effects, so combined use may increase infection risk.
What this interaction means in plain words
Etrasimod and Nilotinib can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Etrasimod belongs to Gastrointestinal Tract; Nilotinib belongs to Oncology.
Why it happens
Possible inhibition of etrasimod metabolism by nilotinib plus additive immunosuppressive effects.
What to do
Avoid combining where possible. If used together, monitor for infection and for bradycardia or other etrasimod adverse effects.
