Summary

Sacubitril inhibits OATP1B1 and OATP1B3 in vitro, and sacubitril-valsartan has been shown to raise exposure to some statins, notably atorvastatin. Fluvastatin is mainly metabolised by CYP2C9 but is also an OATP substrate, so a modest increase in exposure is possible, with a small added risk of myopathy.

What this interaction means in plain words

Fluvastatin and Sacubitril-valsartan have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.

Fluvastatin belongs to Cardiovascular; Sacubitril-valsartan belongs to Cardiovascular.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Inhibition of OATP1B1/1B3-mediated hepatic uptake of the statin by sacubitril.
