What this interaction means in plain words

Galantamine and Imipramine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Galantamine belongs to Central Nervous System; Imipramine belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Pharmacodynamic antagonism between anticholinergic and cholinomimetic effects.

What to do

Prefer an antidepressant with low anticholinergic activity in patients taking galantamine. If combined, monitor cognition and for bradycardia.
