Summary
Sparsentan is a weak inducer of CYP3A4 and a CYP2B6 and CYP2C9 inducer, and ketamine is metabolized by CYP2B6 and CYP3A4. Ketamine exposure may be modestly reduced, which could weaken its effect. The clinical significance is probably small.
What this interaction means in plain words
Ketamine and Sparsentan have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Ketamine belongs to Central Nervous System; Sparsentan belongs to Genitourinary.
Why it happens
Sparsentan induces CYP2B6 and CYP3A4, accelerating ketamine metabolism.
What to do
Monitor for reduced ketamine effect and titrate dose to clinical response. No empiric dose change is needed.
