Summary

Leniolisib inhibits OATP1B1 and OATP1B3 and may increase exposure to substrates of these transporters. Telmisartan's disposition is only partly OATP-dependent, so any rise in exposure is probably modest, with possible increased hypotension or renal effects.

What this interaction means in plain words

Leniolisib and Telmisartan can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Leniolisib belongs to Miscellaneous; Telmisartan belongs to Cardiovascular.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Inhibition of hepatic OATP1B1/1B3 uptake by leniolisib may raise telmisartan plasma levels.

What to do

Monitor blood pressure, renal function and potassium when starting leniolisib. Reduce the telmisartan dose if hypotension occurs.

What to ask your pharmacist

  • Should I take them at different times of day?
  • Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
  • Is there anything I should avoid, such as alcohol or certain foods, while on both?
