Letermovir inhibits CYP3A4 and can increase exposure to pimozide. Higher pimozide levels increase the risk of QT prolongation and torsades de pointes.
What this interaction means in plain words
Letermovir and Pimozide are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Letermovir belongs to Anti Virals; Pimozide belongs to Central Nervous System.
Why it happens
Letermovir inhibits CYP3A4 metabolism of pimozide.
