Summary
Nilotinib inhibits CYP2D6 in vitro, but morphine is metabolised mainly by glucuronidation, so a meaningful rise in morphine exposure is not expected. Nilotinib prolongs the QT interval, which is unrelated to morphine's effect, and the opioid may cause additional sedation.
What this interaction means in plain words
Morphine and Nilotinib have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Morphine belongs to Musculoskeletal; Nilotinib belongs to Oncology.
Why it happens
Weak CYP2D6 inhibition, which is a minor route for morphine; no important pharmacokinetic effect established.
What to do
No dose change is generally needed; monitor analgesic response and sedation.
