Summary
Nefazodone has serotonergic activity, and with a triptan it may rarely cause serotonin syndrome. Nefazodone also inhibits CYP3A4, though naratriptan is mostly renally cleared so this adds little.
What this interaction means in plain words
Naratriptan and Nefazodone can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Why it happens
Additive serotonergic effects from triptan agonism and nefazodone serotonin reuptake inhibition.
What to do
Monitor for serotonin syndrome symptoms after starting or adjusting either drug. Discontinue the serotonergic drugs if suspected.
