Indications
Mécanisme d'action
Like other local anesthetics, chloroprocaine blocks generation and conduction of nerve impulses, presumably by raising the threshold for electrical excitation, slowing impulse propagation and reducing the rate of rise of the action potential.
Posologie adulte habituelle (résumé de la notice)
Local anesthesia (infiltration, peripheral nerve block): maximum single dose without epinephrine 11 mg/kg, not to exceed 800 mg total; with epinephrine (1:200,000) 14 mg/kg, not to exceed 1000 mg total
Grossesse et allaitement
- Grossesse
- Safe Widely used for epidural and spinal anaesthesia in labour and caesarean section. It is broken down in seconds by blood esterases, so very little reaches the fetus. Acceptable when needed.
- Allaitement
- Safe No milk data, but it is cleared from the blood in seconds and other local anaesthetics pass into milk in very low amounts, so infant effects are unlikely. LactMed: lidocaine or ropivacaine may be preferred for a newborn or preterm infant.
Effets indésirables signalés
- Restlessness
- Anxiety
- Dizziness
- Tinnitus
- Blurred vision
- Tremors
Contre-indications
- Hypersensitivity to drugs of the PABA ester group
Précautions particulières
- Use only by clinicians able to manage dose-related toxicity and emergencies, with oxygen and resuscitative equipment immediately available
- Nesacaine multidose vials contain methylparaben and must not be used for lumbar or caudal epidural anesthesia
- Chondrolysis reported after intra-articular infusions of local anesthetics; unapproved use
Informez votre pharmacien ou votre médecin en cas de grossesse ou d'allaitement, de maladie rénale ou hépatique, d'allergies, ainsi que de tout autre médicament ou complément que vous prenez.
