Mécanisme d'action
Progestin derivative with antiestrogenic properties; interferes with estrogen cycle, resulting in lower luteinizing hormone (LH) titer; antineoplastic properties may come from direct effect on endometrium through anti-LH effect mediated via pituitary

- Unsafe Avoid: progestogen; rats showed fewer live births and feminised male fetuses, and early-pregnancy progestogen exposure has been linked to hypospadias. UK label: not recommended in pregnancy. Women who could become pregnant should use contraception.
- Allaitement
- Unknown No LactMed or e-lactancia record. US and UK labels: stop breastfeeding during treatment because of possible effects on the newborn. Prefer not to breastfeed while taking it.

- Megestrol is a progesterone derivative which may induce vaginal bleeding in women
