Résumé

Combining aspirin with ticlopidine increases the risk of bleeding because both impair platelet function through different pathways. The pair is sometimes used deliberately, for example after coronary stenting, but ticlopidine carries additional hematologic toxicity and has largely been replaced by other agents.

Ce que signifie cette interaction, en termes simples

Acetylsalicylic acid and Ticlopidine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Acetylsalicylic acid belongs to Musculoskeletal; Ticlopidine belongs to Cardiovascular.

Niveau de preuve: High

Pourquoi elle survient

Additive antiplatelet effects from irreversible COX-1 inhibition by aspirin and P2Y12 receptor blockade by ticlopidine.

Conduite à tenir

Use only when dual antiplatelet therapy is clearly indicated, and prefer clopidogrel or another P2Y12 inhibitor instead of ticlopidine. Monitor for bleeding and follow blood counts regularly.
