Résumé
Ketorolac inhibits platelet function and damages the gastric mucosa, which adds to the bleeding risk of apixaban. Serious gastrointestinal and other hemorrhages may result. Ketorolac labeling contraindicates its use with anticoagulants at therapeutic doses.
Ce que signifie cette interaction, en termes simples
Apixaban and Ketorolac are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Apixaban belongs to Cardiovascular; Ketorolac belongs to Musculoskeletal.
Pourquoi elle survient
Additive hemostatic impairment: NSAID antiplatelet effect and mucosal injury combined with factor Xa inhibition.
Conduite à tenir
Avoid the combination and use a non-NSAID analgesic such as paracetamol. If an NSAID is absolutely needed, choose a different agent at the lowest dose with gastroprotection and bleeding monitoring.
