Résumé
Atropine is a competitive muscarinic antagonist and directly opposes the muscarinic agonist effects of bethanechol on the bladder, gut and other organs. Bethanechol may therefore lose its efficacy, and atropine can be used to reverse bethanechol toxicity.
Ce que signifie cette interaction, en termes simples
Atropine and Bethanechol can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Atropine belongs to Miscellaneous; Bethanechol belongs to Gastrointestinal Tract.
Pourquoi elle survient
Pharmacodynamic antagonism at muscarinic receptors.
Conduite à tenir
Avoid routine co-administration because therapeutic effect is lost; if bethanechol overdose or cholinergic toxicity occurs, atropine is the appropriate antidote.
