Résumé

Isocarboxazid inhibits catecholamine breakdown and enlarges neuronal norepinephrine stores, and dextroamphetamine releases norepinephrine and dopamine from nerve terminals. The result can be a hypertensive crisis with severe headache, arrhythmia, hyperpyrexia and intracranial haemorrhage.

Dextroamphetamine and Isocarboxazid are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
