Résumé
Isocarboxazid irreversibly inhibits both MAO-A and MAO-B, so adding duloxetine (a serotonin-noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor) can allow serotonin to accumulate excessively. Serotonin syndrome (hyperthermia, clonus, agitation, autonomic instability) can be severe or fatal.
Ce que signifie cette interaction, en termes simples
Duloxetine and Isocarboxazid are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Duloxetine belongs to Central Nervous System; Isocarboxazid belongs to Central Nervous System.
Pourquoi elle survient
Inhibition of monoamine oxidase combined with a serotonin-noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor activity leading to excess serotonergic stimulation
Conduite à tenir
