Itraconazole markedly raises dihydroergotamine concentrations. This can cause serious ergotism with severe vasospasm and cerebral or limb ischemia.

Dihydroergotamine and Itraconazole are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Dihydroergotamine belongs to Central Nervous System; Itraconazole belongs to Anti Fungals.

Strong CYP3A4 inhibition by itraconazole reduces dihydroergotamine metabolism.
