Come agisce
Recombinant human erythropoietin with sialic acid additions to enhance stability; stimulates erythropoiesis via division & differentation of progenitor cells in bone marrow to induce the release of reticulocytes from the bone marrow into the bloodstream to become erythrocytes.
Dose abituale nell'adulto (sintesi del foglio illustrativo)
Chronic Kidney Disease-Associated Anemia: Recommended starting dose: 0.45 mcg/kg IV/SC q4weeks
Gravidanza e allattamento
- Gravidanza
- Unknown Limited human data are insufficient to assess risk. In animals it increased early pregnancy loss at doses near the usual starting doses. Weigh the benefit to the mother (e.g. anaemia of kidney disease) against possible fetal risk; use only if needed.
- Allattamento
- Safe No milk data. It behaves like natural erythropoietin, which is normally present in milk, and as a large protein it is poorly absorbed by the infant; newborns have been given far larger doses directly. No special precautions are needed.
Effetti indesiderati segnalati
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Diarrhea

Chi deve prestare attenzione
- Hypertensive encephalopathy and seizures reported in patients with CKD
- Decrease dose if Hgb increase exceeds 1 g/dL in any 2 wk period
- If severe anemia and low reticulocyte count develop during treatment, withhold therapy and evaluate for pure red cell aplasia
