Per cosa si usa
Come agisce
Erythropoietin receptor activator with greater activity in vivo as well as increased half-life, in contrast to erythropoietin. Erythropoietin is produced in the kidney and released into the bloodstream in response to hypoxia.
Dose abituale nell'adulto (sintesi del foglio illustrativo)
Anemia Associated with Chronic Renal Failure: 0.6 mcg/kg IV/SC q2week initially
Gravidanza e allattamento
- Gravidanza
- Unknown No clinical data in pregnancy; animal studies showed no harm. EU label: use with caution in pregnancy. Weigh the benefit (e.g. anaemia of kidney disease) against the unknown risk.
- Allattamento
- Safe Not known if it passes into milk; EU label: weigh breastfeeding against treatment. Erythropoietin is a normal part of milk, and the similar epoetin alfa is considered acceptable (LactMed); it is poorly absorbed by the infant.
Effetti indesiderati segnalati
- Headache
- Upper respiratory tract infection
- Nasopharyngitis
- Diarrhea
- Hypertension
Chi deve prestare attenzione
- Increased mortality and/or tumor progression in patients with cancer
- Not approved for chemotherapy-induced anemia
- Caution in history of cardiovascular disease or HTN; control hypertension prior to initiating and during therapy
