Sintesi
Measles vaccine contains live attenuated virus, which can replicate without control in a patient immunosuppressed by melphalan. This can lead to disseminated vaccine-virus disease, and the vaccine response is also reduced.

Measles vaccine and Melphalan are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Chemotherapy-induced immunosuppression allows unchecked replication of live attenuated virus and impairs the vaccine response.
