概要
Brimonidine labelling forbids use with MAO inhibitors, and rasagiline is an irreversible MAO-B inhibitor. Systemic absorption of the alpha-2 agonist could lead to unpredictable blood-pressure changes, and the effect on catecholamine handling is poorly characterised.
この相互作用をわかりやすく説明すると
Brimonidine and Rasagiline are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Brimonidine belongs to Miscellaneous; Rasagiline belongs to Central Nervous System.
なぜ起こるのか
Uncertain: MAO inhibition may alter handling of circulating amines and potentiate systemic alpha-2 agonist cardiovascular effects
対処法
Avoid brimonidine in patients taking rasagiline; use a different intraocular-pressure-lowering agent such as a prostaglandin analogue or beta-blocker where appropriate.
