Barbiturates induce hepatic enzymes and may lower eltrombopag concentrations, which could reduce platelet response.

Barbiturate induction of CYP1A2, CYP2C8 and UGT enzymes may increase eltrombopag clearance.

Monitor platelet counts when starting or stopping butabarbital. Increase the eltrombopag dose if response falls, and reduce it if the barbiturate is withdrawn.
