概要
Topical econazole applied over large areas, to genital skin or under occlusive dressings can be absorbed enough to raise the INR in patients taking warfarin. Bleeding episodes have been reported with azole antifungals used this way.

Systemically absorbed econazole inhibits CYP2C9 and other CYP enzymes, reducing clearance of the more potent S-warfarin.

Check INR within several days of starting econazole, particularly with extensive, genital or occluded application, and adjust the warfarin dose as needed. Limit the treated area where possible.
