概要
Ephedrine releases norepinephrine indirectly and acts on adrenergic receptors, and MAO inhibition amplifies the response. Hypertensive crisis can occur.

Ephedrine and Tranylcypromine are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

対処法
Avoid ephedrine and similar indirect sympathomimetics, including cold remedies, during and for 14 days after MAOI therapy. If hypotension needs treatment, prefer a direct-acting agent in small, titrated doses with blood pressure monitoring.
