Как действует
The implant secretes recombinant human ciliary neurotrophic factor (rhCNTF). Exogenous CNTF is thought to target Müller glia and trigger signaling that may promote photoreceptor survival. The mechanism is not completely understood.

- Unknown An eye implant of cells releasing ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF); no data in pregnant women, and not known if it raises CNTF above natural levels. CNTF under the skin caused no birth defects in rats or rabbits, but fewer implantations and live fetuses in rabbits. Use only if clearly needed.

- Infectious endophthalmitis may occur; use aseptic technique, monitor, and remove the implant if it occurs
- Retinal tears and detachment may occur; monitor and treat promptly; remove implant if vitrectomy with complete gas or silicone oil fill is required
