What this interaction means in plain words

Amlodipine-hydrochlorothiazide-valsartan and Oxcarbazepine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Amlodipine-hydrochlorothiazide-valsartan belongs to Cardiovascular; Oxcarbazepine belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Weak CYP3A4 induction by oxcarbazepine reduces amlodipine exposure; additive sodium loss with the thiazide.

What to do

Monitor serum sodium, particularly early in therapy and in older patients, and check blood pressure; increase the amlodipine dose if control is lost.
