Summary
Intravenous calcium can antagonize the effects of calcium channel blockers and has been used to reverse calcium channel blocker toxicity. Thiazides also lower urinary calcium excretion, raising hypercalcemia risk.
What this interaction means in plain words
Amlodipine-olmesartan-hydrochlorothiazide and Calcium chloride can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Why it happens
Elevated extracellular calcium overcomes L-type calcium channel blockade by amlodipine; thiazide reduces calcium excretion.
What to do
Monitor blood pressure and serum calcium when parenteral calcium is given. Expect reduced amlodipine effect during calcium infusion.
