Summary

Amobarbital can lower exposure to the estrogen and bazedoxifene components. This may reduce efficacy for vasomotor symptoms and, for the estrogen component, weaken endometrial protection if exposure to bazedoxifene falls.

What this interaction means in plain words

Amobarbital and Bazedoxifene / conjugated estrogens can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Barbiturate-mediated induction of CYP3A4 and other hepatic enzymes (including UGT) increases metabolism of the estrogens and bazedoxifene.

What to do

Monitor for recurrence of menopausal symptoms and for abnormal uterine bleeding. Adjust therapy or choose a non-inducing sedative if efficacy is lost.
