Summary
Amoxapine is a tricyclic antidepressant with anticholinergic activity and QT-prolonging potential. Combined with the glycopyrronium component, anticholinergic effects such as dry mouth, urinary retention and constipation may be additive. Tricyclic agents also potentiate the cardiovascular effects of beta2-agonists such as indacaterol, raising the risk of ventricular arrhythmias.
What this interaction means in plain words
Amoxapine and Indacaterol-glycopyrronium can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Why it happens
Additive antimuscarinic effects, plus additive QT prolongation and potentiation of beta2-agonist cardiovascular effects by tricyclic antidepressants.
What to do
Monitor ECG and heart rate, particularly in patients with cardiac disease or electrolyte disturbances. Watch for urinary retention, constipation, glaucoma symptoms and other anticholinergic effects.
