Summary
Griseofulvin is a CYP3A4 inducer that can lower circulating estrogen and bazedoxifene concentrations. This may reduce endometrial protection from bazedoxifene and diminish relief of menopausal symptoms, and breakthrough bleeding has been reported with other estrogen products.
What this interaction means in plain words
Bazedoxifene-conjugated estrogens and Griseofulvin can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Bazedoxifene-conjugated estrogens belongs to Endocrine; Griseofulvin belongs to Anti Fungals.
Why it happens
Induction of hepatic CYP3A4 by griseofulvin increases metabolism of estrogens and bazedoxifene.
What to do
Monitor for loss of symptom control and unexpected vaginal bleeding, and evaluate any bleeding appropriately. Consider an alternative antifungal if feasible.
