Summary

Reserpine depletes monoamines and can cause sedation, depression and hypotension, which may be additive with brexpiprazole. Reserpine's monoamine depletion also opposes the dopaminergic activity of brexpiprazole's partial agonism and may worsen depressive symptoms.

What this interaction means in plain words

Brexpiprazole and Reserpine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive sedation and hypotension, with pharmacodynamic interference from VMAT inhibition and monoamine depletion.
