Summary
Dobutamine stimulates beta-2 receptors and can shift potassium into cells, and hydrochlorothiazide also wastes potassium. Together they can cause clinically relevant hypokalemia and arrhythmias, especially in acutely ill cardiac patients.
What this interaction means in plain words
Candesartan-hydrochlorothiazide and Dobutamine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Candesartan-hydrochlorothiazide belongs to Cardiovascular; Dobutamine belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Additive lowering of serum potassium through beta-adrenergic intracellular shift and thiazide renal potassium loss.
What to do
Monitor serum potassium and ECG during dobutamine infusion in patients taking this combination. Replace potassium and magnesium as needed.
