Summary

Human coagulation factor X is given to replace deficient factor X, whereas dalteparin works by enhancing antithrombin inhibition of factor Xa. Dalteparin may therefore blunt the hemostatic benefit of factor X replacement, risking inadequate bleeding control.

What this interaction means in plain words

Dalteparin and Factor x human can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Pharmacodynamic antagonism: dalteparin-potentiated antithrombin inhibits factor Xa generated from the replacement factor X.

What to do

Avoid giving dalteparin around factor X treatment when possible; if anticoagulation is essential, monitor clinical hemostasis and factor X activity.

What to ask your pharmacist

  • Should I take them at different times of day?
  • Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
